Tamil Nadu Health Minister on Thursday accused the opposition DMK of playing 'cheap politics' over the language issue, stating that the party was misleading the public. The Minister made these remarks during a press briefing in Chennai, emphasizing that the TVK is the only organization committed to following former Chief Minister C.N. Annadurai's two-language policy in letter and spirit.

The two-language policy, introduced by Annadurai in 1968, advocates for Tamil and English as the primary languages of administration and education in Tamil Nadu, opposing the imposition of Hindi. The Minister's comments come amid renewed debate over language policy in the state, with the DMK criticizing the ruling government's stance. 'TVK will never compromise on Annadurai's principles,' the Minister asserted, highlighting the party's dedication to the policy.

The accusation is likely to intensify political tensions in Tamil Nadu, where language remains a sensitive issue. The DMK has yet to respond officially, but the exchange underscores the ongoing battle over linguistic identity and political legacy. Observers suggest this could shape upcoming electoral narratives, with both parties vying for the legacy of Annadurai.
