USS Abraham Lincoln returns to San Diego after more than 10 months at sea, with its deployment involving combat operations against Iran & 8 reported suicide attempts among sailors.
October 9, New Delhi: The USS Abraham Lincoln has returned to its home port in San Diego, California, after a deployment of more than 10 months that included major combat operations against Iran.
The aircraft carrier spent more than 260 consecutive days at sea without a port call, setting a record, according to the Pentagon. The carrier strike group’s deployment included sinking 64 Iranian warships, destroying 21 anti-ship cruise missiles and launching 450 Tomahawk land-attack missiles, according to Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth.
The Navy also reported 8 suicide attempts among sailors during the deployment. Commanding Officer Captain Daniel J. Keeler acknowledged the challenges of an extended mission, saying the crew responded with “honor, courage, and commitment.”
