Ukrainian defense manufacturer Phantom Defense has successfully tested its Specter electronic warfare systems and Streamhunter video interception suite in the United States during Gauntlet II, an evaluation phase under the Pentagon's $1 billion Drone Dominance program. The tests, which took place at an undisclosed US location, saw the Specter complexes—integrated with an automated command-and-control system—jam all evaluated radio-controlled UAVs, according to a Kyiv Post report. The successful demonstration has led US defense officials to invite Phantom Defense to participate in future program exercises.

The Drone Dominance program, a $1 billion initiative, aims to accelerate the development and deployment of counter-drone technologies. Phantom Defense's Specter systems are designed to disrupt enemy drone communications and video feeds, a capability that has proven critical in the ongoing conflict in Ukraine. The Gauntlet II evaluation is part of a series of trials to assess advanced solutions from allied nations. The invitation for future exercises underscores the Pentagon's interest in leveraging Ukraine's battlefield-tested electronic warfare expertise.

The successful trials highlight Ukraine's growing role as a hub for innovative defense technology, particularly in electronic warfare, where it has gained invaluable experience countering Russian drones. This development could lead to increased collaboration between Ukrainian defense firms and the US military, potentially shaping future counter-drone strategies. It also signals a shift in the global defense landscape, where non-traditional players like Ukraine are emerging as key contributors to advanced military capabilities. Next steps include further evaluations and possible integration of Specter systems into US defense frameworks.
