Tennessee's 23-Year Road Drought vs. Arkansas: The Ultimate Bulletin Board Material

Tennessee's football program has not won at Arkansas since 2001, a 23-year road drought that serves as perfect bulletin board material for the upcoming matchup. Punter Jackson Ross is the only current Volunteer who was alive at the time of that last victory, underscoring the historical challenge. The streak adds extra motivation for both teams as they prepare to meet in Fayetteville.

The University of Tennessee football team will carry a 23-year road losing streak into its next game at Arkansas, having last won in Fayetteville in 2001. The drought is so long that punter Jackson Ross, a current roster member, was only two years old at the time of that victory, making him the only player alive when the Volunteers last left Arkansas with a win.

Since that 2001 triumph, Tennessee has suffered multiple defeats at Arkansas, including a 24-20 loss in 2020 and a 49-7 blowout in 2011. The streak has become a notorious footnote in SEC lore, often cited by fans and media as a symbol of the program's road struggles. Arkansas has used the statistic as bulletin board material in past meetings, and it is expected to be a talking point again this week.

The drought adds significant pressure on the Volunteers to snap the skid, while the Razorbacks aim to extend it. A win would not only end a decades-long curse but also boost Tennessee's standing in the SEC race. Conversely, another loss would deepen the narrative of futility and provide more fodder for rivals. The game is scheduled for Saturday at Donald W. Reynolds Razorback Stadium, with kickoff time to be announced.
