On the third day of the INDIA bloc's protest in Delhi against alleged 'vote chori' (vote theft), opposition leaders gathered at Rajghat, the memorial of Mahatma Gandhi, to offer prayers for the government to 'get wisdom' to remove the Chief Election Commissioner (CEC). The protest, which began earlier this week, has drawn leaders from various opposition parties, including the Samajwadi Party (SP), Shiv Sena (UBT), and the Nationalist Congress Party (SP). The leaders have vowed to continue their agitation until their demand for the CEC's removal is met.

The protest comes amid heightened tensions between the opposition and the ruling government over the integrity of the electoral process. The INDIA bloc, a coalition of opposition parties, has accused the government of manipulating the electoral rolls and using state machinery to influence elections. On Wednesday, Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge hosted a lunch for the opposition leaders, showcasing a united front. 'We will continue our fight for the soul of democracy,' Kharge said. 'The government must listen to the voice of the people.'

The ongoing protest has significant implications for the political landscape, as it underscores the opposition's determination to challenge the government's electoral policies. The show of unity among diverse opposition parties could signal a more coordinated strategy in upcoming elections. However, the government has dismissed the protests as 'political theatrics' and reiterated its commitment to free and fair elections. The next steps for the opposition include planned marches and rallies across the country, while the government has called for dialogue to resolve the impasse.
