A fresh petition has been submitted to the Chief Minister of Karnataka seeking permission for businesses in Mysuru to operate until 1 a.m., according to sources. The petition, submitted by local business owners and associations, argues that extended hours would boost the city's night-time economy and create jobs.

The move comes amid ongoing debates over nightlife regulations in Karnataka. Currently, businesses in Mysuru are required to close by 11 p.m. under state-wide rules. Similar petitions in other cities like Bengaluru have seen mixed responses, with authorities citing law and order concerns. A representative from the Mysuru business association stated, "Extended hours will significantly benefit tourism and hospitality sectors, but we need clear guidelines from the government."

If approved, Mysuru would join a growing list of Indian cities experimenting with later closing times to stimulate economic activity. However, opposition from residents' groups over noise and safety issues may pose challenges. The Chief Minister's office has not yet commented on the petition, and further discussions are expected in the coming weeks.
