Mizoram Governor General VK Singh, as the Chief Guest, released an English book titled "The Escape", written by former Mizo National Army (MNA) member Pu C. Zâma, this morning at Lianchhiari Run, Directorate of Information & Public Relations (I&PR), Aizawl.
Aizawl 8th October,2026: Speaking on the occasion, Governor General (Dr) Vijay Kumar Singh commended Pu C. Zâma for meticulously documenting his knowledge and personal experiences into a book. Emphasizing the necessity of recording key milestones in Mizo history for future generations, he noted that as time passes, historical records and books on Mizo history will become increasingly valuable. He stated that after enduring an era of insurgency and unrest, Mizoram has now become a peaceful, progressive, and highly literate state; although starting slightly later than others, it now reaps the benefits of peace and tranquility, ushering in a new era of development. The Governor further remarked that continued progress requires broadening one's horizons and stepping beyond one's comfort zone, adding that interacting with the outside world is essential and that adopting the best knowledge and practices from elsewhere can effectively drive the state's progress.
The program was chaired by Prof. (Dr) Ginlianlal Buhril, Vice Chancellor of ICFAI University Mizoram. Attendees heard personal accounts from the author Pu C. Zâma, former Deputy Chief Minister Pu Tawnluia, and other Ex-MNA members. Pu Vanlalruata Ralte, owner of Book Cafe, conducted a book review, and former Home Minister Pu Lalchamliana concluded the event with a vote of thanks.
The book "The Escape" highlights events and experiences during Mizoram's struggle for independence between 1966 and 1986. It contains 174 pages and is priced at Rs 200 per copy.
