The Airports Authority of India (AAI) conducted an on-site inspection for the proposed Greenfield Airport in the land of Mampui, near Lawngtlai.

Aizawl 8th October,2026: The six-member expert team from the Airports Authority of India was led by Mr. Khushiya Singh, DGM (CNS). They were accompanied by the Superintendent from GAD Aviation, Government of Mizoram, as well as Lai Autonomous District Council (LADC) Chairman Mr. C. Lalmuanthanga, alongside other key officials from the District Administration and LADC.

The visiting AAI team inspected the feasibility of developing a Greenfield Airport near Mampui, venturing deep into forested areas for the assessment. They will submit their findings and observations to the higher authorities at the Airports Authority of India.

LADC Chairman Mr. C. Lalmuanthanga expressed his appreciation for AAI's inspection of a potential airport site within the LADC jurisdiction. He assured the AAI officials that the Council would extend all possible cooperation and support in future initiatives related to the project.

Yesterday afternoon, the visiting AAI officials also called on Lawngtlai Deputy Commissioner Mr. Donny Lalruatsanga to brief him on their findings. The Deputy Commissioner urged them to put forth every effort to ensure the realization of an airport in Lawngtlai District.
