Hyderabad Metro-RTC Common Pass Launched: Monthly at ₹8,500, Daily at ₹400

The Telangana government has launched a common pass allowing unlimited travel on both Hyderabad Metro and Telangana State Road Transport Corporation (RTC) services. The monthly pass costs ₹8,500, while a daily pass is priced at ₹400, available at metro stations. This initiative aims to enhance multimodal connectivity and convenience for commuters in Hyderabad.

Hyderabad commuters can now travel seamlessly across the city's metro and bus networks with a single common pass, launched by the Telangana government. The pass, available at Hyderabad Metro Rail stations, offers unlimited rides on both Hyderabad Metro and Telangana State Road Transport Corporation (RTC) services. The monthly pass is priced at ₹8,500, while a daily pass costs ₹400, effective immediately.

The common pass is a key component of Telangana's efforts to integrate its public transportation systems, aiming to reduce travel time and costs for daily commuters. Hyderabad Metro, operated by L&T Metro Rail (Hyderabad) Limited, spans over 69 kilometers, while TSRTC operates an extensive bus network across the city and state. Officials stated that the pass will initially be available at select metro stations and will be expanded based on demand. The pricing, however, has drawn mixed reactions, with some commuters questioning the affordability of the monthly pass compared to existing separate passes.

This initiative aligns with the central government's push for integrated multimodal transport under the National Common Mobility Card (NCMC) framework. If successful, Hyderabad could serve as a model for other Indian cities looking to streamline public transit. The government plans to monitor usage patterns and may introduce discounted rates for students and senior citizens in the future. Next steps include expanding the pass to other modes of transport, such as local trains and feeder services, to create a truly unified mobility solution.
