Ethereum Eyes $10K as Whales Devour $162M in ETH

Ethereum gained nearly 9% in September, defying its historical weakness, as whales accumulated roughly 60,000 ETH (worth about $162 million) in the past week. Analysts and market observers predict a major breakout, with targets ranging from $4,800 to $14,000, supported by record spot ETH ETF inflows nearing $14 billion. However, some caution that a failure to push above $2,800 could trigger a sharp correction.

Ethereum (ETH) is trading just above $2,700 with a market capitalization of nearly $330 billion, following a 9% gain in September—a month historically known for weak performance. The rally comes as cryptocurrency whales have accumulated approximately 60,000 ETH, worth around $162 million, over the past week, according to analyst Ali Martinez. This follows a previous week where large investors scooped up more than 320,000 ETH, signaling growing confidence among major holders.

Market analysts are increasingly bullish on ETH's prospects. X user Gerla described the price chart as "dangerous" for bears, identifying $2,650-$2,900 as a key zone and predicting acceleration toward $4,800-$5,200 if cleared. Altcoin Sherpa noted recent consolidation as a sign of an impending breakout, while Ted emphasized the need for buyers to push ETH above $2,800 to avoid a sharp correction. Institutional demand is also surging, with cumulative net inflows into spot ETH ETFs nearing $14 billion, including nearly $700 million last week. Arthur Hayes, former CEO of BitMEX, predicts ETH could reach $10,000 by year-end, and MikybullCrypto expects a "mega breakout" to $7,000, followed by $14,000.

The combination of whale accumulation, strong ETF inflows, and optimistic price predictions suggests Ethereum may be poised for significant upside. However, the lack of serious volatility and the failure to break above $2,800 could increase the chances of a pullback. A mysterious trader with a 100% win rate across 3,156 trades has opened a $99 long position in ETH with 25x leverage, further fueling speculation. As the market watches for a decisive move, the coming weeks will be crucial in determining whether Ethereum can sustain its momentum or face a correction.
