Oct 10, New Delhi: External Affairs Minister Dr. S. Jaishankar called on Ethiopian Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed Ali and conveyed the personal greetings of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Dr. Jaishankar highlighted the growing momentum in India-Ethiopia bilateral cooperation and the two countries' strategic partnership. In a social media X post, he said the relationship between the two countries is driven by shared developmental aspirations and South-South solidarity.
While addressing a gathering, Dr. Jaishankar also called on India and African countries to work together to amplify the concerns of the Global South, saying the impact of global crises on developing nations needed to be articulated forcefully and could not be ignored by the international community.
He stressed the need for India and African nations to raise awareness about these challenges and strengthen cooperation within the Global South to address their shared concerns.
EAM Jaishankar arrived in Ethiopia on Thursday as part of his three-nation African tour, which also included visits to Ghana and Côte d'Ivoire.
