Delhi was placed under a sweeping security lockdown on Monday as authorities moved to preempt a protest called by the Citizens for Justice and Peace (CJP) under the banner 'Jantar Mantar 2.0.' The measures included internet curbs in parts of the capital, the closure of markets and Metro stations, and the cancellation of dozens of trains bound for Delhi, effectively turning the city into a fortress.

The CJP, a prominent civil liberties group, had called for the protest to demand [specific demands, if known]. In response, Delhi Police and district administrations invoked prohibitory orders, citing potential law and order disruptions. The internet restrictions, imposed under Section 144 of the CrPC, are expected to remain in place for [duration]. Metro services were suspended at stations near the protest site, and markets in central Delhi were ordered shut. Railway officials confirmed that at least [number] trains were cancelled, leaving thousands of passengers stranded.

The crackdown has drawn sharp criticism from opposition parties and civil society groups, who accuse the government of stifling dissent. International human rights organizations have also expressed concern over the internet shutdown, calling it a disproportionate response. The government, however, maintains that the restrictions are necessary to prevent violence and ensure public safety. With the situation remaining tense, further developments are expected as the day progresses.
