Aizawl 10th October,2026: Officers of the Mizoram Police Cyber Crime division note that cyber offenses pose an increasing threat to citizens, businesses, and the digital economy. To accelerate and intensify efforts in combating such crimes, a dedicated Cyber Crime Coordination Unit has been established.

To mount a more robust response against cybercrime, Mizoram Police established the State Cyber Crime Coordination Centre (S4C) as a distinct unit under its jurisdiction on July 27, 2026. S4C is designed to handle various critical operational fronts in cybercrime prevention and control: investigation, analytics, public awareness campaigns, social media monitoring, and emergency rapid response.

Recovery of Defrauded Funds:

The Money Restoration Module (MRM) is a portal designed to help cyber fraud victims recover lost assets, specifically enabling the retrieval of funds frozen or held in bank accounts tied to filed complaints. Within 2026, over ₹1,06,44,416(one crore, six lakh, forty-four thousand, four hundred and sixteen rupees) has been successfully restored to cybercrime victims through the Money Restoration Module and other lawful procedures.

Mizoram Police promptly act on complaints regarding obscene, explicit, and unlawful content posted across social media platforms. Following up on these cases has led to the takedown of numerous unlawful online content URLs.

The Grievance Redressal Mechanism is a portal created to address issues where bank accounts were wrongfully frozen or funds were mistakenly held despite having no connection to online fraud. So far this year, 28 such grievances have been resolved without delay.

Arrest of Cyber Criminals & Outreach:

Across various locations within the state this year, Cyber Crime Police Stations have arrested 9 cyber criminals. Close coordination and effective collaboration with police forces from other states continue in ongoing investigations. In addition, Mizoram Police consistently conduct awareness drives on cybercrime defense; within this year alone, 89 awareness programs have been conducted—particularly targeting school and college students—reaching over 9,000 students.
