CPI(M) Accuses UDF of Colluding with BJP-Controlled ED in CMRL-Exalogic Case, Alleges Kerala HC Misled
CPI(M) leader M V Jayarajan accused the UDF of aiding the BJP-controlled Enforcement Directorate (ED) and withholding crucial facts from the Kerala High Court in the CMRL-Exalogic case. Jayarajan alleged that the ED extorted false statements from CMRL officials to implicate Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan and his family, and that the UDF misled the court by not disclosing this.
In a sharp escalation of political tensions in Kerala, CPI(M) leader M V Jayarajan on Wednesday accused the opposition United Democratic Front (UDF) of colluding with the BJP-controlled Enforcement Directorate (ED) and withholding critical facts from the Kerala High Court in the ongoing CMRL-Exalogic case. Jayarajan alleged that the UDF deliberately misled the court by not disclosing that the ED had extracted false statements from CMRL officials to falsely implicate Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan and his family.
The allegations stem from the ED's investigation into the CMRL-Exalogic deal, which the agency claims involved irregularities benefiting Vijayan's relatives. The CPI(M) has long maintained that the case is a politically motivated witch-hunt by the BJP-led central government. Jayarajan's remarks came after recent court proceedings where the ED's methods were questioned. He demanded that the UDF clarify its stance and accused it of acting as an accomplice to the BJP's agenda.
The development is likely to further strain relations between the ruling LDF and the UDF, with both sides gearing up for a fierce political battle. The ED has not yet responded to the allegations. The Kerala High Court is expected to continue hearing the case next week, and the CPI(M) plans to submit fresh evidence to support its claims. This row underscores the intensifying friction between state and central agencies in opposition-ruled states.
