Hnahsin Kut 2026 began in Champhai on Tuesday, with Mizoram Horticulture Minister C. Lalsawivunga inaugurating the 10-day festival aimed at showcasing the district’s tourism and agricultural potential.

The festival, which runs until October 16, also seeks to promote the traditional Mizo spirit of hospitality, Zonunzemawi, among visitors.

The event has received Rs 20 lakh under the Ministry of DoNER’s Mizo Ginger Mission. Champhai is the state’s leading ginger-producing district, with a processing plant being set up at Mualkawi. Grape, cabbage and passion fruit cultivation have also expanded in the district.

Organisers are targeting more than last year’s 1.2 lakh visitors and Rs 15 crore in business. As hotels are already fully booked, farm stays and other alternative accommodation have been arranged.

Cultural programmes, paragliding, fashion shows, cosplay and musical performances are among the attractions lined up for the festival.
