BMTC Rushes 150 Extra Buses as KSRTC Crisis Deepens Ahead of October 1 Travel Surge

The Bangalore Metropolitan Transport Corporation (BMTC) will operate 150 additional outstation buses on October 1 from Kempegowda Bus Station and Mysuru Road Bus Station to support the Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) in handling passenger rush. The move aims to facilitate travel from Bengaluru to various parts of Karnataka during the busy festive season.

In a bid to ease the festive season travel rush, the Bangalore Metropolitan Transport Corporation (BMTC) announced on Wednesday that it will operate 150 additional outstation buses on October 1. The services will depart from Kempegowda Bus Station and Mysuru Road Bus Station, catering to passengers traveling from Bengaluru to various destinations across Karnataka. The move comes as a support measure for the Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC), which is grappling with high demand.

The additional buses are expected to alleviate pressure on KSRTC, which typically witnesses a surge in passengers during the Dasara festival and the preceding weekend. According to an official order, the BMTC will deploy its fleet to ensure smoother connectivity. This is not the first time the two corporations have collaborated during peak seasons; similar arrangements were made in previous years to prevent overcrowding and ensure timely services.

The initiative is likely to benefit thousands of travelers, but challenges remain, including potential traffic congestion and logistical coordination. Commuters have welcomed the move, hoping for a hassle-free journey. The success of this operation could set a precedent for future inter-agency cooperation in public transport, especially during major events. Authorities have yet to announce whether the additional services will be extended beyond October 1.
