Assam Rifles and Customs Seize 501 Kg of Cannabis Worth ₹2.50 Crore in Tripura
09 October, Agartala: Assam Rifles, in coordination with Customs, seized 501 kilograms of Cannabis worth approximately ₹2.50 crore in Tripura’s Khowai district on October 8, 2026.
09 October, Agartala: Assam Rifles, in coordination with Customs, seized 501 kilograms of ganja worth approximately ₹2.50 crore in Tripura’s Khowai district on October 8, 2026.
The operation was conducted based on intelligence inputs and continuous surveillance to curb narcotics trafficking in the region.
The joint team launched a pursuit of a suspected vehicle from West Sonatala. The chase ended in an isolated area near Baikhuntapur village, along the boundary between West Tripura and Khowai districts, around 18 kilometres from Hezamara block. The suspected smugglers abandoned the contraband and fled the spot.
The seizure highlights the continued efforts of Assam Rifles and partner agencies to dismantle narcotics trafficking networks operating across the Northeast.
The recovered ganja has been handed over to Customs authorities for further investigation and legal proceedings.
The operation also reaffirms the commitment of Assam Rifles to combating drug trafficking and safeguarding the youth of the Northeast.
