Andhra Pradesh Shocker: Private School PE Teacher Arrested Under POCSO Act in Kuppam

A private school physical education teacher in Kuppam, Andhra Pradesh, has been arrested under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act. The arrest follows less than a month after two government PE teachers in Kakinada were suspended over sexual assault complaints by students, highlighting a disturbing pattern of abuse in educational institutions.

A physical education teacher at a private school in Kuppam, Andhra Pradesh, was arrested on Tuesday under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, according to local police. The arrest comes amid growing concerns over student safety in educational institutions across the state.

The arrest follows less than a month after two government physical education teachers in Kakinada were suspended following sexual assault complaints by students. Authorities have not released further details about the Kuppam case, citing the sensitivity of the investigation. The POCSO Act, enacted in 2012, provides stringent punishment for sexual offences against children.

The incident has sparked outrage among parents and activists, who demand stricter background checks and monitoring of school staff. The Andhra Pradesh government has yet to comment on the latest arrest, but pressure is mounting for systemic reforms to prevent such abuses. Police are continuing their investigation.
