Three men were arrested during an entrapment operation for allegedly engaging in the illegal sale of petroleum products in Barangay Manresa, Quezon City, on Oct. 7. Police identified the suspects as alias “Erwin,” 58, of Barangay 8, Caloocan City; alias “Nori,” 28, of Navotas City; and alias “Ariel,” 42, of Barangay Talipapa, Caloocan City. Police said the operation stemmed from reports of alleged illegal petroleum trading at No. 21 Makaturing Street. At about 12:55 p.m., joint operatives of the Quezon City Police District (QCPD) Criminal Investigation and Detection Unit (CIDU) and La Loma Police Station (PS 1) conducted a test-buy operation that resulted in the suspects’ arrest. Recovered from them were four 20-liter black containers and nine six-liter transparent containers containing petroleum products, a hose, a funnel, P3,736 in sales proceeds, two truck keys, an Isuzu Elf truck, and P1,000 in marked money. Police records showed that Ariel had a previous case for reckless imprudence resulting in damage to property in May 2019 and another case for alleged violation of Batas Pambansa (BP) Blg. 33, as amended by Presidential Decree (PD) No. 1865, in October 2026. Nori also had a previous case for violation of BP Blg. 33 in October 2026. The three suspects were charged before the Quezon City Prosecutor’s Office for violations of BP Blg. 33, as amended by PD No. 1865.
