Around 2,000 folk artistes commenced a 75-hour non-stop 'Dappu' drum-beating event in Tirupati, Andhra Pradesh, on Saturday to celebrate Prime Minister Narendra Modi's 75th birthday. The marathon performance, organized by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), is part of the party's month-long 'Seva Sankalp Abhiyan' (Service Resolution Campaign) and aims to set a Guinness World Record for the longest continuous drumming session.

The event features traditional 'Dappu' drums, a folk instrument integral to Telugu culture, and is being held at the Sri Venkateswara University stadium. BJP leaders stated that the initiative underscores the party's commitment to cultural preservation and public service. A Guinness World Record adjudicator is expected to monitor the attempt, which will conclude on Monday, coinciding with Modi's birthday. Similar events are being organized across the country as part of the campaign.

The 75-hour drumming marathon has drawn attention from both supporters and critics. While BJP cadres view it as a fitting tribute to the Prime Minister's leadership, opposition parties have questioned the use of public resources for such events. The outcome of the Guinness attempt and the broader impact of the 'Seva Sankalp Abhiyan' will be closely watched as India gears up for upcoming electoral battles.
