In a sharp diplomatic rebuke at the United Nations, India on October 7 exercised its Right of Reply in the Sixth Committee of the UN General Assembly, responding to Pakistan's remarks on measures to eliminate international terrorism. India accused Pakistan of 'doublespeak' and reminded the international community of the 9/11, 26/11 Mumbai, and Pahalgam attacks, underscoring Pakistan's persistent role in fostering terrorism.

India's response came after Pakistan's representative addressed the committee on Agenda Item: Measures to Eliminate International Terrorism. Indian diplomats highlighted that the world has not forgotten the horrific attacks, which have been linked to Pakistan-based terror groups. The 26/11 Mumbai attacks in 2008 killed over 160 people, while the 2019 Pahalgam attack in Jammu and Kashmir claimed the lives of 40 CRPF personnel. India has long demanded that Pakistan dismantle terror infrastructure on its soil, a call echoed in various international forums.

The exchange at the UN underscores the ongoing tensions between the two nuclear-armed neighbors and India's determination to hold Pakistan accountable on global platforms. India's invocation of these attacks serves as a stark reminder of Pakistan's failure to act against terror outfits like Lashkar-e-Taiba and Jaish-e-Mohammed. The international community's response will be closely watched, as India continues to push for concrete action against state-sponsored terrorism. Next steps may include further diplomatic pressure and potential sanctions discussions at the UN.
