CScale Inc., a startup developing optical interconnects for data centers, launched today with $188 million in funding. The company raised approximately three-quarters of that capital through a recently closed Series C round, which was co-led by Atreides Management, Valor Equity Partners, and Premji Invest. Additional backers also participated, though the full list was not immediately disclosed.

The funding underscores growing investor interest in technologies that can handle the massive bandwidth and low-latency requirements of AI and cloud data centers. Optical interconnects are seen as a key enabler for scaling up compute clusters, replacing traditional copper links that struggle with distance and power constraints. CScale's launch comes amid a broader surge in data center investment driven by generative AI.

With the fresh capital, CScale is expected to accelerate product development and commercial deployment. The company's success will depend on execution and adoption by major cloud providers and hyperscalers. Incisor News will continue to monitor CScale's progress and the competitive landscape in optical networking.
