New Delhi, October 4: Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman on Monday said that India-US trade negotiations are continuing, but may have hit a plateau and added that the bilateral trade balance currently favours India.
Speaking at the Munich Leaders Meeting 2026 here, she noted that India currently has a trade surplus with the US, which is seeking to reduce its deficit and address what it considers accumulated losses in bilateral trade.
She also highlighted India's track record of strengthening and meeting climate targets ahead of schedule.
"At every stage, India has only improved its climate commitments - not just in the form of commitments, but also in fulfilling them much ahead of the deadline. India leads in the rapid adoption of solar energy, with every citizen being given an opportunity through rooftop solar and farmers being supported with solar pumps," she wrote on X.
