Director Agriculture Kashmir Sartaj Ahmad Shah visited Vegetable Seed Multiplication Farm Gangbug and kickstarted transplantation of seedlings for Rabi 2026-27. He reviewed seed multiplication activities, farm operations and infrastructure, stressing timely quality seed production, scientific farm management and optimum resource utilisation.
Srinagar, Oct 06: Director Agriculture Kashmir Sartaj Ahmad Shah today visited the Vegetable Seed Multiplication Farm at Gangbug, Srinagar, and kickstarted transplantation of seedlings for the Rabi 2026-27 season.
During the visit, the Director reviewed various farm activities, including the seed multiplication programme, crop management practices and ongoing developmental works. He also inspected the machinery and equipment being used for seed packaging and processing.
Sartaj Ahmad Shah stressed the need to strengthen departmental seed production infrastructure to ensure timely availability of quality seeds to farmers. He directed officers to adhere to prescribed technical standards and complete all farm operations within the stipulated timelines.
The Director emphasised scientific management of departmental farms, judicious utilisation of available resources and adoption of improved agricultural practices. He also called for regular monitoring of farm activities and optimum utilisation of existing infrastructure.
Seed Production Officer Kashmir briefed the Director on the activities being undertaken at the farm and the proposed measures for developing Gangbug Seed Multiplication Farm as a model farm.
