Chennai's ₹98.25-Crore Big Brother Makeover: City to Blanket Streets with Surveillance Cameras and Flood Sensors

The Greater Chennai Corporation (GCC) has unveiled a ₹98.25-crore plan to overhaul its Integrated Command and Control Centre (ICCC) over the next five years, aiming to bring a vast network of surveillance cameras, flood sensors, rain gauges, and pump-monitoring units under a single monitoring umbrella. The civic body also proposes to establish three regional ICCCs to decentralise oversight and improve response times across the city.
