Assam Rifles, Customs Seize 340 Kg of Cannabis Worth ₹1.74 Crore in Tripura
07 October, Agartala: In a major crackdown on narcotics trafficking, Assam Rifles, in coordination with Customs officials, seized 340 kilograms of Cannabis worth approximately ₹1.74 crore in Tripura’s Khowai district on October 6, 2026.
07 October, Agartala: In a major crackdown on narcotics trafficking, Assam Rifles, in coordination with Customs officials, seized 340 kilograms of Cannabis worth approximately ₹1.74 crore in Tripura’s Khowai district on October 6, 2026.
Acting on specific intelligence inputs and following continuous surveillance, the joint team conducted an operation in the Mungiakami area. During the operation, the team intercepted a Ford EcoSport vehicle suspected of transporting narcotics. A subsequent search led to the recovery of 340 kilograms of Cannabis.
The vehicle used for transporting the contraband was also seized.
The recovered narcotics and the seized vehicle were handed over to Customs authorities for further investigation and legal proceedings.
The successful operation highlights the continued efforts of Assam Rifles and partner agencies to curb drug trafficking networks operating across the Northeast and protect the region’s youth from the menace of narcotics.
