11 kg Ganja Seized at Jolarpet Station: Two Arrested in Major Drug Bust

Two individuals were arrested at Jolarpet railway station in Tamil Nadu on Tuesday after police discovered 11 kilograms of ganja in their baggage aboard the Shalimar–Trivandrum Central Super-Fast Express. The arrests followed a routine search conducted by a police team as the train halted at the station.

According to police sources, the contraband was packed in bundles and concealed within the luggage of the two commuters. The seized ganja is estimated to have a significant street value. The identities of the arrested persons have not been released pending further investigation. Jolarpet, a major railway junction in Tamil Nadu, has previously been flagged as a transit point for narcotics smuggling between eastern and southern India.

The arrests highlight the ongoing challenge of drug trafficking via India's vast railway network. Authorities are now investigating whether the duo was part of a larger smuggling ring and are working to trace the origin and intended destination of the ganja. The case has been registered under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, and further inquiries are underway.
