Several delegations, including representatives of the Save Sharda Committee, PEMA Foundation, Baramulla and the handloom sector, called on LG Manoj Sinha and discussed issues related to religious tourism, artisan welfare, local development and promotion of the handloom sector in J&K.
Srinagar, Oct 07: Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha today met several delegations and representatives who raised issues related to tourism, artisan welfare, handloom promotion and development in Jammu and Kashmir.
Chairman of the Save Sharda Committee and President of All India Kashmiri Samaj, Ravinder Pandita, called on the Lieutenant Governor and discussed the development of the Maa Sharda Temple at Teetwal along the Line of Control in Kupwara. He also sought better facilities for pilgrims, including the establishment of a Yatri Niwas at Teetwal, and promotion of border and religious tourism.
Pandita informed the Lieutenant Governor that the number of pilgrims visiting the Sharda Temple has crossed 10,000 this year.
A delegation of the Pashmeena Entrepreneurs Makers and Artisans (PEMA) Foundation, led by its President Tariq Dar, also met the Lieutenant Governor. The delegation thanked him for his support to the Pashmina Artisan Awards and appreciated the administration's efforts to promote artisans and their traditional craftsmanship.
Former President of Municipal Council Baramulla, Omar Kakroo, also called on the Lieutenant Governor and raised various developmental issues related to Baramulla.
Meanwhile, a delegation of J&K Handloom Cooperative Societies and Weavers Association, headed by its President Ghulam Jeelani Zargar, submitted a memorandum seeking measures for the growth and promotion of the handloom sector in Jammu and Kashmir.
