Kishan Reddy Inaugurates Amul's ₹400 Crore Plant, Urges Farmers to Embrace Cooperatives

Union Minister G. Kishan Reddy inaugurated Amul's new ₹400 crore dairy plant in Telangana and urged farmers to adopt the cooperative model to increase their incomes. The plant, a joint venture between Amul and the Telangana government, aims to process 10 lakh litres of milk per day and benefit thousands of farmers.

Union Minister for Tourism, Culture, and Development of North Eastern Region, G. Kishan Reddy, on Saturday inaugurated a ₹400 crore dairy plant of Amul in Telangana and urged farmers to embrace the cooperative model to enhance their livelihoods. The plant, located in the Medak district, is a joint venture between the Gujarat Cooperative Milk Marketing Federation (GCMMF), which owns the Amul brand, and the Telangana government.

The new facility has a processing capacity of 10 lakh litres of milk per day and is expected to benefit over 5 lakh farmers across the state. Speaking at the event, Reddy emphasized that cooperatives like Amul have transformed the lives of farmers in Gujarat and can do the same for Telangana. He also highlighted the government's commitment to doubling farmers' income through such initiatives. The plant will produce a range of dairy products including milk, curd, paneer, and ghee.

The inauguration marks a significant step in expanding Amul's footprint in South India and strengthening the cooperative movement in Telangana. It is expected to create direct and indirect employment opportunities for thousands of people and boost the rural economy. The move aligns with the central government's vision of promoting cooperative-based development and self-reliance among farmers.
