DISHA MEETING REVIEWS DEVELOPMENT SCHEMES IN SOUTH WEST GARO HILLS

The District Development Coordination and Monitoring Committee (DISHA) meeting for 2026 was held at the DRDA Conference Hall in Ampati, South West Garo Hills, on Monday to review the implementation and progress of Centrally Sponsored Schemes and various development programmes in the district.
The meeting was chaired by Shri Saleng A. Sangma, Hon’ble Member of Parliament (Lok Sabha) from the 2-Tura (ST) Parliamentary Constituency. It was organised by the District Rural Development Agency (DRDA), South West Garo Hills District, Ampati.
The meeting began with a welcome address by the Deputy Commissioner and Member Secretary of DISHA, South West Garo Hills. A felicitation and bouquet presentation was also held for the Hon’ble MP and MLAs.
In his keynote address, Shri Saleng A. Sangma emphasised the need for effective implementation and monitoring of government schemes to ensure that their benefits reached the intended beneficiaries.
Representatives from various departments presented status reports on the schemes and programmes being implemented in the district. The presentations covered the Education, Medical, PHE, DRDA, PWD (Roads), MePDCL, Social Welfare, Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs, Agriculture, Horticulture, Animal Husbandry and Veterinary, Soil and Water Conservation, Tourism, Fisheries, Water Resources and District Commerce and Industries Centre departments.
Representatives from the banking sector, including the Lead Bank, Ampati, also participated in the meeting. The presentations were followed by observations and comments on the progress and implementation of the schemes.
The meeting also provided a platform for reviewing developmental activities, identifying issues in implementation and strengthening coordination among the departments for effective delivery of government programmes in South West Garo Hills.
